      Basic English Language code 011 is a course for all Pre-Diploma students. This programme is designed to improve the proficiency level of Pre-Diploma students in all components which are writing, listening and speaking. This code emphasizes on developing communicative fluency based on grammatical accuracy. In Bel Class there two lectures teaching the pre-commerce student. Thus, content for this course for reading, writing and speaking.

     The first component for this course is reading. Reading is something where students can learn how to understand more about a paragraph, essay or article. For example, the students need to look up for the words that they do not understand and learn how to use dictionary inthe correct way. Besides that, reading can also gain the students’ knowledge. Reading a lot can help them to improve their reading and pronounciation. For example, reading Reader Digest, news paper and academic books. Furthermore, the student can extract information from a passage by using reference words to aid their comprehension. So, students can identify topic sentences, main ideas and using contextual clues to infer meaning. Thus, reading is beneficial for Pre-Diploma students.

     The second component for this course writing. Students learn how to  write full body paragraph like they did in secondary school. The difference is just for this course it is more specific. For example, writing a sentence using basic, compound and complex sentences. Besides that, writing can also teach the students on how to improve their grammar in writing in full paragraph essay. It is because using correct verb or tenses in writing an essay is important. For example, present, past, continuous and perfect tenses, so by having writing class is the way students can improve their skills of writing an essay.

     The third component for this course is speaking. This speaking class is a class which teaches students how to speak English language fluenty with the correct pronounciation. For example, students need to bring dictionary to class in which the dictionary shows how to pronounce a word correctly. Read an article laoudly so that the lecturer can correct the students’ pronountiation. Moreover, speaking will increase students’ confidence level. For example, in speaking class, students need to do their presentation in front of the class, reacting appropriately in given situations and learn how to use language functions in social situations. Thus, from this speaking class, the students will learn on how to control their nervousness simultaneously and increase their confidence level. Therefore, speaking is one of the important content for this BEL Class.

    Comprehension, construct an essay and communicating are the course content for BEL Class code 011. Due to these, students need to concentrate more on study. It is hoped that students skills in English language will improve as they learn more. It is recommended that Basic English language should be applied in each students nowadays.
